Lost Pet Central is a free community resource, with life-saving help and information for people who have lost or found pets.  Our goal is to save lives -- to end the hunger, fear, illness and suffering of lost, stray, and abandoned pets, and get all pets home, safe and sound.

This site contains advice and resources that have been proven to be extremely effective in over eight years of experience working with lost and found pets.  This information is based on what works -- we've had a 97% success rate for finding lost pets, and this site has been set up to provide you with the exact same information, techniques and tools that we have used. 

We have a lot of information for you.  Ordinarily, you might prefer to skim over reading material and just focus on one or two items.  With a lost pet, however, the details can be the difference between life and death, so we hope that you will take the time to go over all of the information that we provide.  We have found that “more is better” when a precious life is on the line, and that supplying owners and finders with as much information as possible is THE key to getting pets home and saving lives.

The core of our approach is centered on "getting the word out", and there are some very specific ways that you can do this most effectively. For lost pets, the very best tool is a flier that you distribute as soon as possible to every home in the extended neighborhood where the pet was lost.  Having the right kind of flier, with very specific wording, can make a tremendous difference, so we provide example fliers on this site that will give you a big head start and get you quickly on the right track.

Our site is set up so that you can work from a main menu.  You will see the main menu button on every page in the blue border, both at the top right-hand side and at the bottom.  The main menu has a list of all the information on this site, and from this central location you can easily tell which pages you have visited and which ones you haven't seen yet.
